A Brand New Baxter Book
I first read Karen Kingsbury’s book Redemption in The Baxter’s #1- Redemption Series. when I was in my early teens and I have loved Karen’ Kingsbury’s books since then. So when I found out Love Story was being released I was excited.
In Love Story, many of the characters are the same as in her previous Baxter Family books which I enjoyed. This is because I have read a majority of the books featuring the Baxter Family, so it helped me to figure out what the characters motivations were. The good thing about this book is I do think you can pick it up without reading any of the other books featuring the Baxters. Karen Kingsbury goes summarizes what has happened to the characters in the other books, so it is easier to read if you haven’t read a Baxter Family book before. I am glad I did read those books previously because it gave me a deeper connection to the characters.
Plot and Setting
The plot of Love Story by Karen Kingsbury surrounds John Baxter and his wife Elizabeth and their love story. I really did like this main plot because I was interested in knowing how they met. When reading the book you can understand why they made some of their choices. Therefore, those choices reflected how they lived in their later years. The entire book is about love and how you with God help you can make it through anything. One of my favorite Bible verses really brings this home, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (Phillippians 4:13) (NIV).
A New Book in the Series
Karen Kingsbury just announced there will be another book in the Baxter Family series titled In This Moment. The cover is similar to Love Story and I can’t wait to see what the next book will be all about.
