A granny square was the first item I learned to crochet six years ago. There are a number of types of granny squares, but I am going to show you the basic crochet pattern with pictures.There will also be a video tutorial on this blog and on my Youtube channel soon. The uniqueness of this granny square is it’s quick and saves I would like to thank Shalynn of Celebrations and Couture Creations for allowing me to post her pattern on my blog. She is a crocheter and creates wonderful items. Here are some of the items she has crocheted.
The pattern is below:
Easiest Granny Square Ever Crochet Pattern
Materials for this Pattern
US Crochet Terms
Lion Brand Yarns Vanna’s Choice colorway Denim Mist [Affiliate Link]
Lion Brand Yarn Ice Cream Sprinkles colorway Bubblegum [Affiliate Link]
H/8 or 5.00mm crochet hook
Round 1:
Magic circle
12 dc into the magic circle tan pull the circle closed, slip st. to first dc.
Round 2:
Ch. 3, Do 3 dc into the same st. as the ch. 3
Skip the next 2 sts., Make 6 dc in the third stitch [Repeat this two more times for three times total]
Skip the next two sts., Make 3 dc into the first st. where you made the 3 dc in the first round. Slip st. into the top of the first dc.
Round 3:
Ch. 3, Do 3 dc into the same st. as the ch. 3
Make 3 dc in the opening after the next 3 dc cluster (or skip 2 ch.)
Make 6 dc in the cluster of the 6 dc [this is one of the four corners]
Repeat the previous two steps [two more time for three times total]
Make 3 dc into the first st. where you made the 3 double in the beginning of the round. Slip st. into the top of the first dc from the round.
Repeat this pattern to make your Granny Square as big as you want:
Ch. 3, 3 dc in the same st. as the ch. 3
3 dc in the space after the 3 dc cluster
6 dc in the cluster of 6 dc [this is a corner]
3 dc into the first st. where you made the 3 dc in the beginning of the round.
Quick Tips
6 dc cluster is a corner
Do 3 dc after a 3 dc cluster
There are only 3 chs. used in each round.
